Air Conditioning Installation Blog in Caerphilly, Cardiff
By Giuliana Kinnerly 20 Jul, 2023
As the UK dips in and out of some serious heat waves this summer, and most people don't have the luxury of owning air conditioning in their home or office, we wanted to share some top tips to help keep you cool and safe in the heat... 1. Stay shaded Avoid being outside in the direct sun if possible (especially with young kids and animals) and keep indoors or in the shade where you can. 2. Stay hydrated It's simple but SO important - water, soft drinks, lollies keep you hydrated and cool you down. 3. Block out the sun Keep blinds or curtains closed as much as you can to help keep the room cool and only open the window when the temperature drops. If it's really hot outside then opening the window will only let the warm air in. 4. Dress accordingly Too many layers will make you feel even hotter. Wear light colours made from breathable, cotton material. 5. Have a quick dip Have a nice luke warm bath or shower before bed as it will help the body cool down naturally allowing you to sleep more comfortably. Having a paddling pool in the garden or quick dip in a cool shower will also cool you down throughout the day. 6. Invest in a decent fan There are many different types of fans out that will help cool you down and keep air moving round the room. You can also place it by an open window facing out to direct the warm air out of the window. 7. If you have a baby... DO NOT place muslins or blankets over prams. This is such a common thing to do and yet SO DANGEROUS! Instead of keeping your baby cool and shaded, this will actually create a greenhouse effect and build up dangerous levels of heat inside the pram. Instead, use a clip on parasol/ sunshade with open sides to allow ventilation throughout. Always be checking on baby and in temperatures over 26 degrees aim to keep any time outside in the pram to a minimum. If you have a young baby, place a thin muslin between you and baby's skin when holding, cuddling or feeding to prevent overheating. This will keep you both cool and comfortable. 8. And if you want to invest in Air Conditioning... Get in touch today for your FREE, no obligation quote. We recently completed another job for Travis Perkins, this time in their newly renovated offices in Swindon. We were asked to provide a heating/cooling system to regulate their new workplace which included a breakout area, boardroom, Managing Director's office and PA's office. We supplied and installed a 14kW twin system to the large boardroom, two 7kW split systems to the breakout area and MD office, and a 3.5kW split system to the PA office. We fitted compact ceiling cassettes in the centre of each room to achieve a wider cooling range. The wind-free systems we installed effectively maintains a comfortable level of coolness without the unpleasant feeling of a cold draft - an issue for many employees. Some outdoor units were mounted at high level due to access issues below. We also fitted drip trays and condensate drains to stop any condensate icing on the path below in cold ambient temperatures. Take a look at some images below:

Having air conditioning can bring so many benefits ( see previous blog ) , bu t, if not used correctly you can be in danger of throwing money down the drain and all that lovely warm or cool air literally out the window. But no need to panic though... here are our top tips for getting the most out of your system: 1. Keep the temperature consistent When heating your house, the best temperature to set your air con to is around 18-20 degrees. Altering the temperature doesn't necessarily make your house warmer and most certainly isn't energy efficiency. 2. Make sure your space is draft proof Help to keep the heat or cool air inside by keeping all windows, doors, curtains and blinds closed. This will improve the efficiency of your aircon as well as keeping your home or office warmer/ cooler for longer. 3. Use a timer Set your heating to come on an hour before you get out of bed in the morning, or before you come home from work so it is warm for when you are actually in and moving around the house. This way you can save energy and the house can be the optimum temperature at the times you need to it. 4. Maintain your system Make sure you get your air con system serviced regularly to keep your system working efficiently. If the filters and coils get clogged with dust, the unit will potentially break down as well as cause health issues. Checking them yourself or just give us a call to book a service. 5. Use Smart Thermostat or AC Controllers By using smart thermostats and AC controllers you can decrease your electricity bills by up to 25%. By telling your thermostat when you want your system to be active along with your desired temperature, it will efficiently maintain the best room environment for you at the right times. 6. Think about zones This is something that not many people consider doing but such a great method for using your air con efficiently and reducing bills. By setting specific temperatures in designated areas, you won't have to heat or cool the whole building when using a specific space/ room. If you aren't using a certain area of your house or office, don’t heat/ cool it and save energy. 7. Use the Fan mode Try using the other, less energy-intensive modes, such as the fan mode when using your system. When it’s not so hot and you only require a refreshing breeze, the fan mode can be just as effective (and more energy efficient). 8. Position your Thermostat correctly Thermostat placement is so important when it comes to regulating your temperature indoors. As the thermostat reads the temperature from its surroundings and then makes changes, it makes sense to ensure it's not positioned near a door or window, near air vents, or under direct sunlight. Placing in an incorrect position will result in false readings and an undesired room temperature. We hope these tips have helped, but of course, we are always here to help if you are ever unsure or want some advice. If you invest in one of our systems we always make sure all these points have been considered and can provide you with the best system to suit your needs. 10 BENEFITS OF HAVING AIR CONDITIONING IN YOUR HOME OR WORK
By D & G Air Conditioning 13 Apr, 2022
It is becoming more and more necessary to have an air conditioning system in your home and work environment. Many factors (such as global warming and air pollution) contribute to us being surrounded by unhealthy air which can affect our health in many ways. If you’re in doubt about having air conditioning in your home or office, read the list below to find out the many benefits: 1. Better air quality Air conditioning systems circulate and filter the air, removing pollutants and mould to create a more optimum environment. Dust and bacteria in the air can promote coughs, colds, fatigue and headaches. 2. Improved productivity It’s simple really, with a more comfortable environment, the more contented we are and the clearer our minds will be! This is beneficial for both our home and work life. 3. Reduced humidity High humidity encourages dust mites, mould, heatstroke and dehydration. The damper the home, the unhealthier the living conditions. 4. Reduced Asthma Attacks A/C systems filter dirty air which lowers the levels of pollen, mould, mildew, dust mites and other allergens building up that can lead to asthma attacks. 5. Improved sleep We actually sleep better in cooler conditions, so when the warmer months approach, having a system to control the temperature is ideal. 6. Reduced noise We are more likely to keep the doors closed when there is an A/C in the room, therefore keeping it cool and quiet. 7. Less insects/ parasites A/C is effective in keeping bugs at bay because they desire a warmer climate. If your body temperature is cooler, you are less desirable to mosquitos. Not only does air conditioning protect you, but also keeps your house clean from bugs. 8. Reduced risk of dehydration and heat stroke Overheating due to the surrounding temperature can be prevented by air conditioning. The cool air lowers body temperature and reduces sweating. 9. Reduces odours A/C keeps the smells from dirty air, cleaning chemicals or rotten food at bay by filtering it out with clean air. This also improves your health by avoiding chemicals in the air you breath. 10. Improves mood Being able to control and maintain the temperature of the room will keep you cool when it's warm outside, and cosy and warm in the colder months. Overall, this will make for a happier, more comfortable you. So, if you were ever in doubt, it’s safe to say that investing in an air conditioning system will benefit your health in so many ways. Air Conditioning Installation for home in Maesycwmmer
By D & G Air Conditioning 04 Mar, 2022
We recently carried out an installation of 4 x wall mounted Mitsubishi Heavy Industries split air conditioning systems to a beautiful home in Maesycwmmer. The customer was looking for something discreet, modern, and efficient, and was especially not keen on having any sort of condensate pump kits fitted internally. All wall mounted units were installed on external walls so all services could be taken out directly behind the units, leaving them with a discreet finish. We used white trunking to keep it clean and modern and match existing guttering and down pipes. The customer was extremely happy with the neat and non-disruptive installation. All power supplies were installed by Kore electrical who we continue to work closely with.

Did you know that regulating the air around you in your working environment can make a big difference to your productivity… Recently we were asked to provide an air conditioning unit in a new garden room/ home office for a client in Porth, South Wales. We carried out a site survey, and due to the curvature of the room (and the customer requesting no visible pipework or trunking) we suggested a standing, 3.5kW air conditioning unit. We are pleased to say the customer was extremely happy with how quickly the system creates a comfortable temperature, along with the neat and clean finish. If you are looking for something similar in your home or office, get in touch today on 07979 183339 or drop us an email.
