D & G Air Conditioning completed the full installation of LG air conditioning systems at Planet Fitness Aberbargoed.

We were contacted by Planet Fitness to remedy the gym’s increasing temperatures during the summer months. Our client requested that costs were kept to a minimum without compromising on quality, therefore 10 varied air conditioning systems were installed to serve the multiple fitness suites, and a large open plan area throughout the gym.

We worked around the gym’s 24 hour opening time and completed the installation within a 3 week period.

As the UK dips in and out of some serious heat waves this summer, and most people don't have the luxury of owning air conditioning in their home or office, we wanted to share some top tips to help keep you cool and safe in the heat... 1. Stay shaded Avoid being outside in the direct sun if possible (especially with young kids and animals) and keep indoors or in the shade where you can. 2. Stay hydrated It's simple but SO important - water, soft drinks, lollies keep you hydrated and cool you down. 3. Block out the sun Keep blinds or curtains closed as much as you can to help keep the room cool and only open the window when the temperature drops. If it's really hot outside then opening the window will only let the warm air in. 4. Dress accordingly Too many layers will make you feel even hotter. Wear light colours made from breathable, cotton material. 5. Have a quick dip Have a nice luke warm bath or shower before bed as it will help the body cool down naturally allowing you to sleep more comfortably. Having a paddling pool in the garden or quick dip in a cool shower will also cool you down throughout the day. 6. Invest in a decent fan There are many different types of fans out that will help cool you down and keep air moving round the room. You can also place it by an open window facing out to direct the warm air out of the window. 7. If you have a baby... DO NOT place muslins or blankets over prams. This is such a common thing to do and yet SO DANGEROUS! Instead of keeping your baby cool and shaded, this will actually create a greenhouse effect and build up dangerous levels of heat inside the pram. Instead, use a clip on parasol/ sunshade with open sides to allow ventilation throughout. Always be checking on baby and in temperatures over 26 degrees aim to keep any time outside in the pram to a minimum. If you have a young baby, place a thin muslin between you and baby's skin when holding, cuddling or feeding to prevent overheating. This will keep you both cool and comfortable. 8. WHY YOUR AIR CON NEEDS A SERVICE
By D & G Air Conditioning 04 May, 2023
It's simple really, like any other piece of equipment your air conditioning needs regular maintenance and repairs to make sure it continues to work properly. It is also important for prolonging the efficiency of the system for longer. So with that in mind, let us answer a few commonly asked questions about the importance the maintenance services for your AC: 1. Are they necessary? Definitely! 2. Why is important to get your AC serviced? There are so many reasons why it is important to get your service booked in and make sure your AC is working how it should be: ✔️ It clears any blockages ✔️ It maintains your system's efficiency ✔️ It will increase overall performance ✔️ Safety checks are crucial with this type of equipment ✔️It increases unit lifespan ✔️ It helps to avoid faults and expensive repairs ✔️ It preserves warranty 3. What happens if you don't service your AC? If you don't service your AC, the system will not work as it's supposed to and eventually, it will grind to a complete halt and potentially cause health issues. A simple maintenance service won't take long and will be worth it when you're not having to fork out to get your system replaced. 4. Signs your AC needs a service ✔️ Poor airflow from clogged or broken filters ✔️ Inefficient cooling ✔️ Frequent on/off cycles ✔️ Unpleasant odours ✔️ Increased or unusual noise ✔️ Water leaks 5. How often should I book a service? We recommend booking a service annually to maintain its efficiency and prolong it's lifespan. 6. How do I book a service? We recently completed another job for Travis Perkins, this time in their newly renovated offices in Swindon. We were asked to provide a heating/cooling system to regulate their new workplace which included a breakout area, boardroom, Managing Director's office and PA's office. We supplied and installed a 14kW twin system to the large boardroom, two 7kW split systems to the breakout area and MD office, and a 3.5kW split system to the PA office. We fitted compact ceiling cassettes in the centre of each room to achieve a wider cooling range. The wind-free systems we installed effectively maintains a comfortable level of coolness without the unpleasant feeling of a cold draft - an issue for many employees. Some outdoor units were mounted at high level due to access issues below. We also fitted drip trays and condensate drains to stop any condensate icing on the path below in cold ambient temperatures.
